Canon today unveiled three new digital Elph cameras which the company says maintains “the petite profile that has characterized the line since its inception while adding big new featuresâ€. These new models are the PowerShot SD700 IS (April – $499.99), PowerShot SD630 (April – $399.99) and PowerShot SD600 (March – $349.99).

The PowerShot SD630 offers up a retractable 3x optical zoom, 3†wide-viewing angle LCD screen with adjustments for 15 levels of brightness and a touch control dial to scroll through captured images or menu settings. The PowerShot SD600 also has a retractable 3x optical zoom and 2.5†LCD screen with 15 adjustments for brightness.
Features in common on these three models additionally include Canon’s Digic II image processor, USB 2.0 support, a widescreen 16:9 ratio resolution setting for taking panoramic-style prints, support for 23 languages and in-camera options for retouching photos.
“With these new Digital Elph cameras, we once again confirm the adage that great things come in small packages, and from these great things come great pictures. It is truly a gift that keeps on giving,” stated Yukiaki Hashimoto, senior vice president and general manager of the consumer imaging group at Canon U.S.A., Inc, in a statement. “We recognize that if we continue to make digital cameras easy to use, easy to take along and attractive enough to fit in wherever one goes, people will carry them as a matter of course and chronicle their daily lives for fun, whim, and whimsy and not simply for the momentous occasions that occur.”
