Lenovo Unveils Dual Core 3000 N100 Notebook

Lenovo has unveiled its first branded dual-core notebook, the 3000 N100, featuring a svelte 5.6 pound weight, strong multimedia and connectivity capabilities, and features designed to make th systems easy for both end users and IT departments to maintain.

“We designed the Lenovo 3000 N100 with mobile small business customers in mind, understanding their need for a powerful, yet easy-to-use notebook,” said Marc Godin, Lenovo’s vice president of worldwide marketing for the notebook business unit. “With the N100, we wanted to create a notebook that helps make our customers work more efficiently and effectively. The N100’s widescreen display, dual-core processor and Lenovo Care tools help create a powerful, worry-free computing experience.”

The 3000 C100 notebook will be available in either Core Solo or Core Duo configurations, with options for either a 14.1 or 15.4-inch widescreen displays, 802.11g wireless networking, 10/100Base-T Ethernet, and optional Bluetooth connectivity. The 3000 N100 also features forward-facing stereo speakers, an integrated microphone for VOIP and audio recording, either a combo or DVD recordable optical drive, a 4-in-1 media reader, four USB 2.0 ports, one Firewire/1394 port, and S-video output. Additional optional features include an integrated video camera (for video chat and other communications) and an integrated fingerprint reader for biometric-based access.

The 3000 N100 also features Lenovo’s one-button recovery system which helps users or IT professionals troubleshoot and recover systems to a previously saved state, handy for recovering from grievous software failures or assisting users who just can’t keep viruses off their PCs. The 3000 N100 also supports automatic updating which can, on a user-configured schedule, automatically download and install critical updates for Lenovo software.

The 3000 N100 notebook will be available beginning March 28, 2006, with a base price of $999.
