Cellular carrier T-Mobile and Research in Motion yesterday introduced a new BlackBerry to users of the former’s high speed wireless EDGE network. The new BlackBerry 8700g has a suggested retail price of $399 and looks to be available now.
The BlackBerry 8700g, said the two companies, takes advantage of T-Mobile’s EDGE network to quickly access data and Internet content while on the go. Features of this mobile handheld device include instant messaging support for MSN, AOL and Yahoo, e-mail support for up to 10 accounts, an Intel Xscale processor, 64MB of flash memory, quad-band support, Bluetooth support and a QVGA LCD screen.
“Because our customers recognize the importance of balancing work and life, T-Mobile and RIM will continue to provide them with all-in-one solutions to stay in touch with the people and information that matter most,” said John Clelland, Senior Vice-President, Marketing, T-Mobile USA, in a statement. “With integrated IM support and built-in EDGE capabilities, the BlackBerry 8700g will help customers stay seamlessly connected on their terms.”
