Mazda and Google yesterday announced a new promotion they are running which gives users the chance to win prizes, including a grand prize of the Mazda CX-7 SUV, via the online portal’s popular Google Earth software application. The Mazda CX-7 Earth Search Sweepstakes began April 29 and runs through June 27.
The Mazda CX-7 Earth Search Sweepstakes, said the two companies, has users visit a promotional Web site where they watch a short video to try and figure out where the SUV is currently located globally. Users then interact with the Google Earth application to find the specific location which will be marked by a sweepstakes entry icon. After clicking on that icon, they are entered to win and can view more clues as they are released.
“This multi-tiered campaign is a great example of how Mazda has gone beyond basic marketing tactics to embrace emerging technologies in communicating to consumers,” said Brian Colianni, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Mazda North America Operations, in a statement. “The Mazda CX-7 Earth Search Sweepstakes utilizes cutting-edge technology to create a relevant and entertaining online experience for participants of the sweepstakes, an experience that we think will resonate with our target.”
