11 photos of the new MacBook Pro with Retina Display

Check out our review of the Apple MacBook Pro (2013 edition).

Apple dropped a bomb today at its press event in San Francisco – not only will the new 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pros be faster, thinner, and better than the previous generations, they’ll also be $200 cheaper. Start gawking. In terms of look and feel, not much has changed. The new MBPs are still rocking the classic Apple aesthetic, but both sizes have gotten a bit slimmer and lighter. These are just minor improvements though – the real changes are under the hood. Both models will sport fourth-generation Haswell processors and new integrated graphics – Intel Iris in the 13-inch model and Iris Pro in the 15-inch model. These hardware improvements will reportedly give battery life a significant boost, and graphics capabilities that Apple claims will match the performance of some discrete GPUs.

If you’ve been holding out for a super-powered MacBook Pro with a high-end M3 Pro or M3 Max chip, you could have a lengthy wait on your hands. That’s because, despite Apple’s plans to launch new Macs later this year, several are reportedly going to miss the cut.

That’s according to journalist Mark Gurman, who claims in a new report that Apple’s flagship 16-inch and 14-inch MacBook Pro models are unlikely to launch until the middle of 2024. Worse, the M3 Mac mini might not see the light of day until late 2024 at the earliest.
