Toshiba Introduces New LCD TV Line

Toshiba today, besides introducing new DLP televisions, highlighted its new television sub-brand Regza and an associated line up of 10-12models. These units range in price from $1,199.99 to $4,499.99 and will be made available between now and August.   This new Regza line, said Toshiba, uses the company’s own 12-bit digital video processing and LCD panel technologies to deliver what they feel are “stunning lifelikeimages”. The models, which range in screen size from 26” to 47”, sport features, depending on the specific television, like a built-in DVD player, 1080p display resolution, a 176 degree viewingangle, ATSC/QAM digital tuning, PC input, HDMI support, RJ-45 network capability and a CableCard slot.   “Regza will set the new standard for premium LCD TV,” said Scott Ramirez, Vice Presidentof Marketing, Toshiba America Consumer Products TV Group, in a statement. “By combining our new CineSpeed LCD panel with 33 percent faster response speed, and our new PixelPure Hi-Bit digital videoprocessing with up to 50 percent improvement in bit rate, we have created picture quality that is truly spectacular. With 4,096 levels of gradation, our new 12-bit processing provides 16 times thegradation levels of competitors’ 8 bit systems, for smoother, more natural images.
