In a move that sounds somewhat odd, Syntax-Brillian will be partnering with Solar Link Technologies, a company wholly owned by Taiwan-based Pro Chen Group to have their LCoS and LCD TV lines assembled here in the states – and in California of all places.
Scheduled to begin assembly in August 2006 Olevia 3,5 and 7 series LCD TVs will be the first lines down the belt, followed by the LCoS product lines in September. Syntax-Brillian is expecting the new facility to pump out 100,000 to 200,000 TVs each year.
“We’re very proud that our Olevia brand LCD and LCoS™ TVs will be assembled by American workers with our partner Solar Link Technologies,” said Syntax-Brillian CEO Vincent Sollitto. “Strategically, locating production in Ontario is a great advantage. Not only does it allow us to cut costs on shipping and import duties, thereby improving margins, but it also allows us to bring production close to home and work with a company that has extensive experience in assembling quality consumer electronics.”
Because these new TVs will be assembled here in the US, the company will be able to stamp the "Made in USA" label on their products. This is undoubtedly a very positive move for the company because it shows they are still able to remain profitable despite moving assembly to the states.
