Just in time for snow, Chevrolet releases the Corvette Stingray Premiere Edition Convertible

Nothing says holiday cheer like a convertible, right?

The weather this time of year may not be optimal for top-down driving in most places, but Chevrolet decided to reveal the 2014 Corvette Stingray Premiere Edition Convertible anyway.

When it arrives in showrooms early next year, the Premiere Edition Convertible will be among the rarest Corvettes around. Only 550 examples will be made, so it might actually be a good idea to reserve one early.

Those 550 cars will be distinguished from ordinary ‘Vettes by their unique Lime Rock Green exteriors and Brownstone suede interiors. It’s a pretty attractive combination, especially on a car that typically wears louder colors.

The Premiere Edition Convertible comes with nearly option in the catalog. It’s based on the top 3LT trim level, and includes the Z51 performance package and the Magnetic Selective Ride Control magnetorheological suspension system.

Other features include unique wheels with “Stingray” logo center caps, Stingray sill plates, and a five-piece set of Thule luggage.

Each car will be identified by a dashboard plaque, and the series has its own unique VIN sequence. That’s just one more piece of trivia for Corvette nerds to digest.

Unchanged is the Stingray’s 6.2-liter LT1 V8, which produces 460 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque with the Premiere Edition Convertible’s performance exhaust system.

When it arrives in dealerships in early 2014, the Corvette Stingray Premiered Edition Convertible will have a base price of $77,450. That’s a few grand more than a fully-optioned 2014 Corvette Stingray coupe ($73,360) and well above the convertible’s base price of $56,995. Granted, the Premiere Edition includes the pricey 3lT and Z51 packages.

This isn’t the first time Chevy has brought out a special-edition convertible just in time for the holidays. Remember the bizarre Neiman Marcus Camaro convertible?
