CEA Asks You to Recycle Electronics

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced today they are revamping a Web site focused on helping consumers to "go green" with electronics in honor of Earth Day. The revamped myGreenElectronics.org site will update on Sunday, April 22.

myGreenElectronics.org, said the CEA, is an online tool designed to help consumers make decisions regarding environmentally-responsible use, reuse and recycling of electronics. The site will offer new features such as an interactive electronics energy consumption calculator and nearly 1,500 electronics recycling programs searchable by zip code. Other useful items include tips for extending a product’s life span with proper care, a repair versus replace decision tree and a database of corporate recycling programs and reuse options

“With the addition of our new energy calculator, myGreenElectronics.org now is the most comprehensive website for environmentally-conscious electronics consumers," said Douglas Johnson, CEA’s senior director for technology policy and international affairs, in a statement. "The site’s easy-to-use interactive tools and useful information support energy efficiency and promote responsible end-of-life product management by guiding consumers through every phase of a product’s life—from purchasing to disposal."
