Still on its spending spree, Google has made a new acquisition. The search giant has bought GrandCentralCommunications for an undisclosed sum. GrandCentral allows users to use a single number for all their phones, as well as a single mailbox for accessing all their voice messages from thephones – with the mailbox available online. Users also have the ability to register all their phones with GrandCentral so that all or some of them ring, depending on the caller. Foundedin 2005, Grand Central will fit well into the burgeoning Google empire, according to a Google statement released yesterday. “GrandCentral’s technology fits well into Google’sefforts to provide services that enhance the collaborative exchange of information between our users.” And, according to a statement on the GrandCentral web site, “Google will continue tobeta test the GrandCentral service and support all existing customers, there are no specific product plans to discuss at this time.”
