Ubisoft Gets Busy

French gaming company Ubisoft is on a roll. Not only has it just unveiled the trailer for the game it’s created based on the hit ABC TV show “Lost,” it’s just inked a licensing deal to make a game based on the NBC/Universal smash show “Heroes.”   “Heroes” has taken off during its first season, and alreadyboasts a spin-off, “Heroes: Origin,” to air next season, its own web site, graphic novels, and a game for mobile phones.   The “Lost” game is due on shelves in early2008. No date has yet been announced for the “Heroes” game.   “With a gripping storyline and rich characters, “Heroes” lends itself naturally to a video gameformat,” said Christian Salomon, vice president of worldwide licensing at Ubisoft. “By offering people the chance to interact directly with the show’s captivating universe, there is nodoubt that the game will appeal to both fans of the series and avid gamers.”   All of that would be enough good news for any company. But Ubisoft has also announced that it will be workingwith James Cameron, director of “Titantic,” to develop a game based on his film “Avatar.”   Ubisoft has already created games based on “CSI: Crime SceneInvestigation,” “Dukes of Hazzard: Return of the General Lee,” and “Peter Jackson’s King Kong.”

Satisfactory is about to get its last update for a while
indie studios leave steam for epic game store satisfactory

Since its release in March 2019, Satisfactory has gotten a lot of love from fans of base builders. It's easy to see why: The sci-fi setting of an unsettled planet, rich in resources with just a hint of an authoritarian-fueled economy, tickles the part inside all of us that desires to be left alone to work in peace. The game finally left early access in September after five years of development, and there has been a stream of hotfixes since the 1.0 update to address any bugs that were introduced. Coffee Stain, the developer behind Satisfactory, warns fans that this pace won't continue. After the 1.0.0.5 update, things will slow down until the Ficsmas event.

In a video released on their YouTube channel, Coffee Stain dropped some big pieces of news. The first is that Satisfactory 1.1 will receive straight pipes, but the more exciting news is that the company is "considering" DLC for the game. Coffee Stain invited watchers to comment on what they want from DLC in Satisfactory, so if you have any ideas, drop a line to the company. A new map or advanced end-game content would go a long way toward increasing replayability, although that doesn't seem to be a problem at the moment. The game still clocks around 50,000 concurrent players just on Steam.

Guild Wars might be getting a spinoff. Here’s what we know
Three characters, including two humanoid bears, holding spears in Guild Wars 2.

Guild Wars 2 is one of the most well-known, free-to-play MMOs on the market. The game has remained active and popular for more than a decade after launch, and it even managed to go toe-to-toe with World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV and survive. Now, a spinoff might be on the way that could tide fans over until Guild Wars 3.

Per PCGamesN, it was first spotted on SteamDB, a website that provides detailed statistics on everything Steam-related. Today, the application received its name: Lion's Arch: GuildWars Arena (Private Playtest). Now, hold on. Before you go rushing off to download the app, you should know that it's been hidden from public view for now. You won't be able to find it on Steam.

Ubisoft is looking into rebooting the Rayman franchise, a company spokesperson told Digital Trends following an earlier report about a potential series remake.

Team members from Ubisoft Montpellier  -- many of whom had just worked on Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown -- have teamed up with Ubisoft Milan to explore the possibility of new games. Milan previously worked on the Mario + Rabbids games, which most recently featured Rayman in the aptly named Rayman in the Phantom Show DLC.
