As if modern laptops weren’t sleek and urban enough, BenQ has upped the ante in appealing to city-goers with a laptop designed to recall the glittering skyline of a major metropolis. The BenQ Joybook R43 looks ordinary enough in its matte-black finish, except for a slim band of skyscraper-esque geometric shapes etched across its top, interlaced with softly glowing white lights to simulate the glow of the city.
BenQ executed the design with inscribed Laminar Film, and attempted to carry it inside with a power button and indicator lights that glow blue. Besides this carefully orchestrated urban feel, the R43 is a fairly ordinary laptop with a 14.1-inch screen, Intel Core 2 Duo processor, DDR2 memory and a SiS Mirage 3+ graphics chip.
BenQ hasn’t yet announced prices for the R43, and upon the laptop’s initial launch in December, it will only be available in China. Availability in other countries will following in “the coming months.”
