Red Mile Entertainment has been flying low under radar since it first announced development of a Sin City game back in May, but fans eager for information on the game got a fresh dose of info on Thursday: It will use the Unreal Engine 3.
Epic Games’ engine-for-hire is the same core technology behind games like Gears of War, Unreal Tournament, and BioShock. It includes a suite of content creation tools, along with support for features like ragdoll physics, advanced gameplay scripting, and massive world support.
“The Unreal Engine is one of the most technically advanced engines on the market and is a perfect fit for our Sin City video games,” said Red Mile president Glenn Wong, in a statement. “The engine has powered several of the best-selling games of all time, and I am very glad we have the opportunity to arm our developers with such a world-class product.”
Few other details of the upcoming Sin City game have been released since the game’s announcement., although Red Mile’s multi-year licensing agreement to the franchise points to a series of games rather than a one-off production.
