You might not think that cars and boats have much in common, but Mercedes-Benz AMG and Cigarette Racing beg to differ.
The producers of high-performance land and water vehicles came together to design a racing boat inspired by the Vision Gran Turismo concept, which was created for the Gran Turismo 6 racing simulator.
The Cigarette Racing 50′ Vision GT Concept isn’t as radical as the car, but at least it exists in the real world and not just the digital one of Gran Turismo. It’s also the most powerful production twin-engine performance boat ever built by Cigarette Racing.
Each Mercury Racing engine produces 1,650 horsepower; 300 hp more than each engine in the Cigarette Marauder this boat is based on. They certainly have the Vision Gran Turismo’s 577 hp twin-turbocharged V8 outgunned.
To match the sleek car, the Vision GT Concept boat gets an Alubeam paint scheme, with matte-black hull and accents. The interior is black with black Alcantara accents, carbon-fiber dash panels, and silver-face gauges.
Like any modern Mercedes, the boat is also loaded with technology, including Bluetooth and four high-definition displays.
All of that comes with a price tag of $1.5 million. The Mercedes Vision Gran Turismo, meanwhile, will most likely be free to download in the game.
This isn’t the first time Mercedes has tried to make a waterborne version of one of its cars.
Last year, Mercedes teamed up with Cigarette Racing to design a boat inspired by the SLS AMG Electric Drive. With a top speed of 99.4 mph, it was the fastest electric powerboat in the world.
The German automaker also collaborated with Britain’s Silver Arrows Marine to build a luxury yacht inspired by its luxury cars.
