3-door Porsche Macan rendering should give Range Rover Evoque owners buyer’s remorse

Macan Three-Door Concept

Will the engineers over at Porsche take the aptly named Macan, the Indonesian word for “tiger”, and go for three doors, like the Range Rover Evoque?

Shedding two doors would make this already small crossover look slimmer, with a lower roofline and smaller tail. The renderings from Theophilus Chin should certainly make Porsche think twice.

With 400 horsepower on tap from the 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 this two-door tiger will sprint from 0 to 60 in around 4.0 seconds. That is one impressive mommy-missile.

While the Macan Turbo and standard Macan S are both fitted with a PDK transmission, both will be equipped with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus). This system will improve traction and handling by measuring the steering speed, steering angle, and accelerator pedal position in order to improve cornering through targeted braking on the inside rear wheel.

Porsche is wisely offering both a diesel and gasoline version of its now possibly three- and five-door Macans. The top-of-the-line Turbo version might not sell as well, but a smaller diesel version of the already-popular Cayenne could be a hit.

If it were my money  I might opt for the three-door model because it’ll just be that much less of a mommy-mobile… you know, if Porsche ever offers such a thing.

So, if ever given the choice, which would you choose: the five- or three-door Macan? Tell us in the comments.
