Zattoo Streams European TV

Zattoo has launched a service in several European countries that allows users to stream terrestrial TV channels from their own countries (plus a few others fromabroad) to the computers.   The legal service uses a proprietary player, which is available as a free download, and works on both PC and Mac. Currently available in Belgium, Denmark, France,Germany, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK, the company has big plans to expand not only the number of countries included, but also the number of continents.   It works as a peer-to-peernetwork, with the watched program flowing from one computer to another. In the UK, viewers can catch a total of 29 channels, including all five terrestrials, BBC3 and BBC 4, Al-Jazeera, ABC News Now, as well as news from France and Germany and, most importantly for some, the PokerChannel.   Alexandra Illes, manager for Zattoo in the UK, said:   “People often have to compromise their viewing choices with other household members, such as their flatmates orpartner,. Zattoo helps eliminate this as anyone with a computer and internet connection can watch TV via the internet. It’s just like owning another TV.”

LG’s giant, wireless OLED TV gets a giant price
LG 97-inch Signature OLED M3 4K TV and Zero Connect box.

One of the coolest things we saw at CES 2023 -- at least in terms of TV tech -- was LG's enormous 97-inch wireless OLED TV. The LG Signature OLED M requires only a power cable when it's mounted to a wall. Everything else -- the video, audio, and network connectivity is all beamed wirelessly to the screen from a big black cube that acts as the TV's brain. This clever bit of TV kit now has a price and a global release: it's coming to the U.K. in September for 28,000 British pounds (about $35,400).

It will be accompanied by two smaller versions based on LG's OLED evo panels -- an 83-inch model for 8,000 British pounds (about $10,000), and a 77-inch version for 6,000 British pounds (about $7,600). These wireless TVs are also expected to make their way to other parts of Europe and the U.S. later this year, according to LG's press release, but no U.S.-specific pricing was announced.

Why you should buy the Hisense 75-inch U6 Series 4K Mini-LED ULED TV
Baffled by what mini-LED is? Don't be. Take a look at our guide to mini-LED vs QLED. Mini-LED provides you with smaller LEDs than you'd usually see so the TV manufacturer can fit more pixels on screen than before. More LEDs mean more and better brightness so that HDR images look particularly great, even in bright rooms. It also leads to better darkness too with local dimming far more effective than with non-mini-LED TVs. And wondering about ULED? That's basically Hisense's term for the technology that it embraces as one of the best TV brands. Check out our look at QLED versus OLED and you'll learn even more about why QLED combined with mini-LED technology is so vital.
