Nintendo Shows off New Wii Titles

Seemingly secure of its sales dominance in the console market for the time being, Nintendo’s E3 press conference offered few new surprises for the Wii’s growing legion of fans. Having already revealed the new WiiMotion hardware on Monday, Nintendo made its exclusive Wii Sports Resort and Wii Music titles the main attractions at its press event.

As a sequel to Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort will stick with the tried-and-true formula of many mini games in a single package. However, rather than sticking with more pedestrian sports, Resort will step into more interesting fare with games like Power Cruising (riding a jet ski), Disc Dog (throwing a Frisbee to a dog) and Sword Play (self explanatory). Since the games will require more finesse than the original Wii Sports, Nintendo will bundle the game with the WiiMotion, which provides more accuracy in the Wii remotes.

Wii Music will follow in the steps of games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band with rhythm-based game play, but will take advantage of the Wii remote’s flexibility to offer players a choice of 60 different instruments. True to Nintendo’s casual gaming bent, it’s also free from the possibility to lose: players just get together and make music, there’s no challenge to fail at.

Nintendo says the Wii Music will go on sale before Christmas, while Wii Sports Resort will come out in the spring.

Few video game consoles stirred up as much buzz as the Nintendo Wii. Before motion-tracking software was considered standard fare and shovelware began popping up left and right to take advantage, Nintendo looked to revolutionize the gaming landscape with the Wii.

The Wiimote and Nunchuck control system gave gamers a new way to game and opened the door for a new generation of interactive gaming. From brand-new motion-based party games like Wii Sports and Just Dance to groundbreaking installments to classic Nintendo series like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and the Super Mario Galaxy, the Wii quickly became home to a stellar lineup of games for all ages.

Download these rare Wii U games before they disappear

Nintendo's Wii U is notorious for how hard it flopped and for providing the Switch with some of its best ports, but that doesn't mean it didn't have worthwhile games that are still exclusive to it. While many Wii U games have escaped to other platforms and Game Boy Advance games are now coming to Nintendo Switch, some experiences are uniquely suited to the Wii U GamePad or aren't able to make the jump elsewhere due to other outside factors.

As such, when the Wii U and 3DS eShops shut down on March 27, there are some unique Wii U games that will become significantly more expensive and tougher, if not outright impossible, to play. If you're one of the 13.5 million people who actually have a Wii U and are wondering what to pick up before the eShop closes, we recommend these stranded games.

Main characters of Modern Warfare 2.

The eagerly anticipated second season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has a lot in store. It'll incorporate a new small-scale Warzone 2.0 battle royale map called Ashika Island, along with new DMZ features and a fresh set of weapons to try out. While Season 2 certainly has lots of exciting new content in the pipeline, things are looking dire for Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer, as very few new features are planned for the update.

Sure, it's nice that Warzone 2.0 and DMZ are getting so much attention during Season 2, but the latest update is a grim sign for the overall life cycle of Modern Warfare 2 -- a game that seems to have been left in the dust as Activision sprints on to its next project,
