Hennessey has built what it claims is the world’s fastest production car, and it’s pretty proud of it.

One of the Texas speed merchant’s Venom GT supercars recently hit 270.4 mph at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, eclipsing the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport’s 269.86 mph top speed.

Guinness World Records hasn’t certified the Venom GT’s achievement, but Hennessey decided to celebrate anyway. To do so, the company will build three World’s Fastest Edition cars in commemoration of the feat. Though they cost $1.25 million each, they’re already sold out.

It’s not hard to see why these uber-cars flew off their lots. Decked out in a patriotic amalgamation of white, with red and blue stripes, this Venom does a fine job sporting a Old Glory’s colors.

As you might expect, the non-special edition Venom GT is just as fast. Each version of the car feature a twin-turbocharged 7.0-liter V8 with 1,244 horsepower housed in a Lotus Elise-based chassis that tips the scales at just 2,743 pounds.

That means, in addition to its Earth-shattering top speed, the Venom GT can go from 0 to 60 mph in around 2.4 seconds, and 0 to 186 mph in 13.63 seconds. The latter is a bona fide Guinness World Record.

While it may cost more than a fleet of Corvettes, The Hennessey Venom GT delivers plenty of performance for price.
