2015 Cadillac ATS gains new look, more power and cool tech

Cadillac has quietly revealed the updated 2015 ATS sedan.

The most eye-catching modifications for the latest model year are found up front, where the ATS gains a redesigned fascia consisting of a twin-slat radiator grille with Cadillac’s new wreathless crest and a revised bumper that features a longer, thinner air dam. Introduced by the coupe variant of the ATS, the wreathless crest will gradually make its way to all members of the Cadillac lineup.

Two new paint colors called Crystal White Tricoat and Dark Adriatic Blue Metallic, respectively, are available.

The interior carries on with minor aesthetic modifications, but Cadillac has packed the ATS sedan with new technology such as a Teen Driving functions that lets parents monitor how their kids drive, a Text Message Alert function that reads incoming text messages through the ATS’ speakers and Siri Eyes Free compatibility. Also new for 2015 is an optional wireless phone charger called DockSpot.

The ATS’ 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine sees its torque output bumped up to 295 pound-feet, a 14-percent increase over the outgoing 2014 model. Horsepower remains the same at 272, while the ATS’ 2.5-liter four-banger and 3.6-liter V6 carry on unchanged.

All of the ATS’ engines come standard with a six-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. However, buyers can order the 2.0-liter turbo four with a six-speed manual transmission at no extra cost, and all-wheel drive is available as an option on cars equipped with the 2.0-liter and the 3.6-liter mills.

The facelifted 2015 Cadillac ATS is scheduled to reach Cadillac showrooms across the nation in the coming weeks. Pricing information has not been published yet.
