Destiny beta waves the Iron Banner for new, limited-time maps

Players running around in Bungie’s ongoing Destiny beta get a special treat this weekend in the game’s Crucible, which is where all the PvP (competitive multiplayer) goes down. For a limited time, the game’s Iron Banner mode, which pits players against one another without turning off the “level advantage” stats boosts received from the campaign mode’s RPG progression, will be playable. Not just that, but it’s got two multiplayer maps that aren’t otherwise accessible during the beta.

The two maps are Rusted Lands, which featured into the game’s alpha, and Blind Watch, which offers players their first look at Destiny‘s take on Mars. The initial Iron Banner event ran on July 19 for two hours, starting at 2pm PT. Bungie later confirmed on the official Destiny Twitter feed that additional Iron Banner events would be staged today, July 20, at 2pm PT and 7pm PT.

All players in the beta receive a message when the Iron Banner event goes live, so just be online and watch for an update, then head to the Crucible with your highest-level character and your best gear equipped.

I used to be what you might call a Destiny addict. Back in the mid-2010s, I was all-in on the first Destiny game, practically playing it daily. I had a dedicated crew I ran raids with, chased the highest-level gear I could find, and competed in the Crucible like it was a job. I clocked over 400 hours playing the game over the course of a few years, and when Destiny 2 came out in 2017, I started on that same path.

But life changed. My free time became more scarce as I got older and the idea of spending all my time on one game became unrealistic. I had other things I wanted to play and it no longer made sense to keep up with an MMO where the grind was always climbing. I still checked out every major expansion, playing through any new story content, but I began to feel like I wasn’t getting a fulfilling experience if I ignored the grind.

Activision announced via the official Call of Duty blog that Season 2 Reloaded will add a lot of content to Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone. This content is coming in the form of various multiplayer modes, new maps, map updates, fresh weapons, and a guest appearance from Snoop Dogg.

This new update gives Warzone's Rebirth Island what is claimed to be "The biggest map update since the original release," and it's dubbed Rebirth Island Reinforced. The update significantly alters areas of the map like Stronghold and adds a new area known as Dock.
