Watch Dogs, Ubisoft’s open world hackstravaganza, will finally arrive on the Wii U on November 18. If the date rings a bell, that’s because it’s also the scheduled release date for some of the fall’s biggest games, including Far Cry 4, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 version of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.
The Wii U version of Watch Dogs is being developed by Ubisoft Bucharest, in collaboration with Ubisoft Montreal. It’s the same game that debuted on PlayStation and Xbox consoles back in May 2014, but with additional support/features for the Wii U’s tablet-like GamePad. It also features the same off-screen play option that many other Wii U games do.
Watch Dogs casts you as Aiden Pearce, a vigilante hacker facing off against an oppressive surveillance system in a near-future Chicago. It’s an open world adventure cut from the mold of other recent Ubisoft games in that genre (looking at you, Assassin’s Creed), though with a more contemporary setting and a focus on action and… hacktion.
