The LG G3 Vigor is the U.S. version of the LG G3 Beat, which was released in Europe earlier this year. The phone shares a similar design to the flagship G3 smartphone, but comes with a more modest specification sheet. Think of it as a G3 Mini, without the now cliched name.

AT&T joins Sprint in selling the G3 Vigor

On September 26, AT&T will sell the G3 Vigor both online and in stores, with a no-contract price of $335. Choose to sign up for two-years, and the initial price drops to $50. There are two Next options, a $13.96 per month, 18-month plan, or pay $16.75 per month for 12-months. Like the recently announced Samsung Galaxy Alpha, AT&T is also offering the G3 Vigor with a $100 credit on your bill, provided you start a new Next contract online before the end of the month.

That’s not the only special offer either. G3 Vigor buyers can also grab a G Pad 7 LTE tablet for $1, plus a two-year contract, at the same time. AT&T says this will only be available for a limited amount of time, but hasn’t provided an end date yet.

Sprint launched the G3 Vigor on September 19. The G3 Vigor will sell for 24 monthly payments of $13 through Sprint Easy Pay, though if you prefer to buy products outright, the handset will cost $312.

LG G3 VigorHigh-end looks, mid-range specs

While the G3 Vigor is certainly similar to the G3 in more ways than one, it’s still a mid-range phone underneath. The most notable difference is the display, which measures 5-inches and has a 720p resolution. This is a far cry from the G3’s Quad HD display, but more than enough for most, everyday tasks. Powering the device is a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM to handle any multitasking you might throw at it.

Also on deck are 8-megapixel and 1.3-megapixel rear-facing and front-facing cameras, respectively. LG threw in a soft light for the front-facing camera to brighten up selfies, while the rear-facing camera gets the G3’s laser auto-focus. You’ll have 8GB of internal storage to save anything you wish, though memory is expandable up to 32GB through the G3 Vigor’s MicroSD card slot.

The G3 Vigor will also feature the G3’s Knock Code functionality, as well as a laundry list of features brought over from the G3 Vigor’s bigger sibling. Finally, the G3 Vigor will run Android 4.4.2 KitKat and supports Sprint’s enhanced LTE network, Spark, plus HD Voice on AT&T.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite vs. MediaTek Dimensity 9400: the race is on
Comparison of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite and MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processors.

The flagship mobile silicon race has entered its next phase, one that will dictate the trajectory of Android hardware heading into 2025. Merely weeks after MediaTek wowed us with the Dimensity 9400 system on a chip (SoC), Qualcomm also pulled a surprise with the reveal of the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

But this time around, the battle is not as straightforward. Where MediaTek is working closely with Arm and adopting its latest CPU and graphics innovations, Qualcomm has firmly put its faith in custom cores. These are no ordinary cores, but a next-gen iteration of the same fundamental tech stack that powers Windows on ARM laptops.

Discolored line on your new Kindle? You aren’t alone
Amazon Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition on a table.

The new Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition is the first full-color e-reader, and a lot of bookworms couldn't wait to get their hands on it. Sadly, many people are reporting the display has a discolored yellow area at the bottom of the screen. The problem is so widespread that the Kindle Colorsoft dropped to an average review rating of 2.6 out of 5, although it does remain the bestselling e-book reader at the moment.

The cause of the discoloration isn't clear. Some users report that it only happens when using the edge lighting feature on the Kindle, while others say it appeared after a software update. Either way, the yellowing is a problem, especially on a device that Amazon has marketed as being great for comics and graphic novel fans. It's hard to enjoy the colorwork in a comic when it's distorted.
