The M2 isn’t here yet, but BMW’s smallest two-door is about to get a little sportier.
The recently-revealed 2015 BMW 2 Series Convertible will soon get an optional M Sport package, with added performance and styling bits.
M Sport parts add a bit of extra flair, but don’t constitute a complete makeover in the vein of a dedicated M model, or even M-Performance models like the M235i version of the convertible BMW already builds. Confused yet?
Overuse of the letter “M” aside, the M Sport package comes with a few items enthusiast buyers should like, including a subtle body kit with a hint of influence from the M4.

The visual changes include a new front bumper and grille, new side skirts, and a rear diffuser. The M Sport package also comes with its own 17-inch alloy wheels, and the entire car sits a little lower to the ground thanks to sportier suspension.
The M Sport is also available in a special shade of Estoril Blue, which carries over to some of the interior trim. Other interior upgrades include a sport steering wheel, ambient lighting package, and M-badges for the shifter and door-sill tread plates.
There are no mechanical changes, so buyers still get to choose from a 228i with a 240-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, or the aforementioned M235i and its 320-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-six.
Buyers looking to spice up their 2 Series Convertibles will probably be able to order the M Sport package shortly after the car arrives in showrooms next year. However, we’re still waiting for that M2.
