Dying Light is no longer coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, developer Techland announced. That means that the first-person zombie survival game will be released solely on PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One on January 27, 2015.
The developer cited a desire to make the game “a truly next-gen experience” as the reason for its decision to axe the older consoles instead of compromising their vision. In its current build, Techland claims, the game can display upwards of 200,000 objects with dynamic lighting and physics, which pushes even the new consoles to their limits.

The game’s focus on parkour-inspired, natural movement also takes systems much more than conventionally-bounded game spaces. Internal testing showed that the Xbox 360 and PS3 simply couldn’t run the game smoothly enough to merit continued development for those platforms.
Dying Light is set for release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC on January 27, 2015 in the Americas, January 28 in Australia and New Zealand, and January 30 in Europe and Asia.
