Mitsubishi’s Lancer Evo X swan song reportedly set to be unveiled in Japan

2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution GSR
It was a very good run while it lasted, but the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X is making its last laps before exiting the world stage. It’s been in the books for a while, but we’re now hearing some details on the last Lancer that the Japanese automaker will roll out: the Lancer Evolution X Final Concept.

According to a post from the Indian Autos Blog, the Evo X Final Concept is set to make an appearance at the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon, where it will reveal some of the exterior and interior upgrades that will end up on the final production model.

2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

The Final Concept will be covered in a matte black finish, accented with gloss surfaces such as on the roof and spoiler, as well as a chrome grille. Under the bodywork, the Concept will sport the height-adjustable sport suspension developed by HKS and will ride on 19-inch forged aluminum wheels.

The Lancer’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine will get some HKS treatment as well, with a new turbocharger, intake, ECU and cooling system to up the power from the Evo’s 291 horsepower to 473 hp. All of this will be managed by a five-speed manual transmission before being sent to the Mitsu’s 4WD system.

As sad as we are to see the Lancer Evo X go, we’re still excited to give it a proper send off, that’s why any mention of the final version gets us into a frenzy. Hopefully, there will be some official word from Mitsubishi confirming this info, validating our excitement. If anyone has plans to be in Chiba, Japan on January 9th, stop by the Auto Salon and hopefully see it for yourself.
