In comment thread at TrekMovie.com, Orci — who has a long-established history of joining conversations on the site’s message boards — Orci seemingly confirmed his dramatically reduced role in the project.
“I’m producing, nothing more or less,” wrote Orci (posting as “boborci”) in the long string of comments following a story about Lin’s attachment to the project.
Possibly even more surprising, however, was Orci’s somewhat reserved response on whether fans should be worried about the film with a new writing team and director.
“I won’t lie, I don’t know yet, but the story we are talking about would be awesome, hang in there!” he wrote.
With Paramount Pictures targeting July 8, 2016, for the film’s release date, things will need to get moving along quickly if the film is going to hit theaters on schedule. With the film’s script seemingly still in flux, it will be interesting to see how things come together for the highly anticipated sequel.
