The HTC One M8s is a cheaper sequel to last year’s flagship

In our review of the HTC One M9, we concluded that while it’s a great phone, there isn’t a great reason to update if you’re already using a One M8. With that in mind, the decision of which phone to buy is about to get tougher – at least in Europe, where HTC will be releasing an overhauled version of the M8 in the HTC One M8S.

The appearance, display, and build are all nearly identical, but HTC has made some big changes under the hood. Gone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, replaced with a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 processor. The battery has been boosted up to 2,840mAh – identical to the M9 – and the 4-megapixel “Ultrapixel” camera from the M8 has been replaced with a standard 13-megapixel shooter. The second lens remains intact.

Rounding out the specs, the One M8S will come with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a MicroSD slot. Looking at software, the phone runs Android 5.0 Lollipop and HTC Sense 6.0, unlike the One M9 which runs Sense 7. The weight is the same as the M8 at 160g, though the M8S is slightly thicker: 9.5mm to the original M8’s 9.4mm.

The biggest difference in the new model is the price. The M8S will sell for £380 (roughly $563) in the U.K., while the original M8 sold for around £530. That said, the original One M8 can be bought for less than the M8S.

The HTC One M8S will be available in silver, gold, and gunmetal grey, and so far, the phone has only been announced in Europe, with no word of a release in the United States.

The new phone seems roughly the same as the version on which it’s based, with the main changes limited to the camera and battery life. Combined with the more efficient chipset, the larger battery should lead to a notable improvement in battery life, and this combined with the lower price could make the phone a hot seller.

Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is the king of Samsung’s tablet lineup
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 set up on a keyboard cover to work as a laptop.

Samsung finally launched its newest trio of Galaxy Tab S8 tablets during its Samsung Unpacked February event, and all of them turned out to be mostly in line with what we were expecting.

While many buyers will be happy with the Galaxy Tab S8 or S8 Plus, the S8 Ultra is the company's most premium option and is certain to turn the heads of power users. Its noticeably larger size is an attractive feature all by itself, but Samsung hasn't stopped the upgrades there. The S8 Ultra is also packed with a variety of internal improvements over its smaller siblings and is clearly geared toward productivity and people who work from home. These improvements will come at a higher asking price, of course.

After months of rumors, speculation, and leaks, Samsung has finally revealed its new Galaxy Tab S8 lineup at Samsung Unpacked. As we've been expecting, the trio of new tablets includes the Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8 Plus, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, with the latter bringing some hefty upgrades over the two smaller and more affordable models. The S8 and S8 Plus provide plenty of power in an attractive package, though, for those who don't need the Ultra's considerably larger screen and internal storage space.
