Do you remember playing the super addictive mobile puzzle game Two Dots? Well, apparently you’re not the only one. Developer PlayDots has revealed that Two Dots officially hit 30 million downloads, with more than 5 billion games played.

Two Dots was released in May 2014 and is the sequel to the puzzle game Dots. The object is to find as many vertical and horizontal lines of same colored dots on the grid. It is currently on App Annie’s list of most downloaded games for iOS.

“We have more games and exciting updates to Two Dots on the way, including a completely redesigned version of the game that will soon launch with our Chinese partner Tencent in the coming weeks,” PlayDots co-founder and CEO Paul Murphy said in a blog post on Friday.

Dots and Two Dots both performed exceptionally well, with close to 5 billion games played in their first years alone. The biggest different between the games is revenue: The sequel generated $15 million, while the original generated a mere $1 million. PlayDots is looking to find ways to build their business and revenue by adding content and features that players want to buy. Even though Two Dots’ stats are impressive, it has a long way to go before catching up to the king — Candy Crush was downloaded on mobile devices more than 500 million times in its first year, with 150 billion games played.

Of the 30 million downloads, 22 million came from iOS, with an additional 6.75 million on Android. Two Dots has been downloaded more than 1 million times on Facebook, and Amazon has 250,000. According to App Annie, Two Dots is currently ranked No. 71 in the U.S.

We have some good news for those waiting for an iOS update. According to 9to5Mac, a reputable private account’s social media post suggests that a new update for iOS 18 might be coming soon. However, it’s likely to be iOS 18.0.1, not the much-awaited iOS 18.1 update many are anticipating.

The new iOS 18.0.1 update is expected to feature bug fixes, including one that addresses an iMessage bug. Perhaps more importantly, the adjacent iPadOS 18.0.1 update could finally provide relief to iPad users who experienced bricking issues when installing iPadOS 18.

On September 16, Apple launched the new iOS 18 update for the iPhone, and while the company always says it’s the biggest update ever, this year, that’s true. So many new iOS 18 features will delight you, but many of these are also fundamental changes to how you use your iPhone.

I’ve been using iOS 18 in beta for months and love many of the new features. They’ve breathed new life into my iPhone 15 Pro Max and will do the same for all iPhones that support the update.

I thought I’d love these two iOS 18 features, but I don’t

Apple finally released iOS 18 to the public on September 16 after months of betas. It’s one of the biggest iOS updates in history, ushering in a new age of Apple Intelligence, more customization, RCS support, a new Photos app, and a lot more.

I didn’t use the iOS 18 betas, so the public release is the first time I’ve tried out all of the new features, minus Apple Intelligence (it's coming in iOS 18.1 next month).
