In honor of LGBT pride month, Apple has added an LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) section on the App Store that showcases content for the LGBT community.

Apple is commemorating the 1969 Stonewall Riots that served as one of the most historical events leading to the gay liberation movements. The Stonewall riots occurred in New York City and are seen as a movement to fight equality for the LGBT community.

Apple wrote the following in the App Store: “Every June, we commemorate the 1969 Stonewall riots — a history-making moment in which gay men and women fought back after decades of relentless discrimination. It heralded the beginning of the modern gay rights movement, launching the struggle for public visibility, cultural acceptance, and legal equality that the LGBT community has continued battling for ever since. To celebrate these efforts, we’ve gathered a selection of movies, music, TV shows, apps, and more — all reflecting the broad and diverse spectrum of LGBT pride.”

The featured content highlights movies like Milk and Hedwig and the Angry Inch to TV shows like Netflix’s Orange is the New Black. Music fans can also purchase music by popular artists like Sam Smith, Adam Lambert, Frank Ocean, and Neon Trees

Apple’s CEO Tim Cook, announced that he was gay last year, and has spoken out against anti-LGBT legislation. Cook wrote a column in Bloomberg BusinessWeek publicly acknowledging that he is gay. Tim Cook wrote, “While I have never denied my sexuality, I haven’t publicly acknowledged it either, until now. So let me be clear: I’m proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me.”

Tim Cook was also featured on Alabama’s anti-discrimination bill. It was just last year, the company participated in the San Francisco Pride Parade, posting a video on its YouTube channel.

You can view the entire LGBT collection of content here.

Apple Store down.

The online Apple Store is currently unavailable in preparation for today's "It's Glowtime" event. The store still displays products likely to be discontinued, such as the iPhone 15 Pro series and Apple Watch Series 9, but you can no longer purchase them. These products are expected to be replaced by new products, which will be available for preorder shortly.

Instead of a "Buy" button, you'll see this message: "Be right back. We're making updates to the Apple Store. Check back soon."

You now have another reason to use your Apple Watch’s ECG feature
ECG on the Apple Watch Series 7.

Most of us wear an Apple Watch to track our steps and respond to texts on the go, ignoring the more advanced features — but sometimes, those features could save your life. Rachel Manolo says the Apple Watch helped keep both her and her unborn child safe.

Manolo was around 18 weeks pregnant when her symptoms first started: a racing heartbeat, shortness of breath, fatigue. After several weeks of this, she decided to use the ECG function on her Apple Watch. It gave her an inconclusive result, but she reported a heartbeat of more than 150 beats per minute (bpm) for more than 40 minutes.

The updated Safari app is Apple’s best-kept secret in iOS 18
Safari website homepage in iOS 18.

Safari, for all its quirks, still commands the lion’s share of web browsers on Apple products. But compared to what its rivals offer on Android, it also comes out as the laziest in terms of innovation.

With iOS 18, Apple is turning the AI knob to the max, and the ripple effects of that approach are reflected in the latest builds of iOS and iPadOS, as well. Much attention has also been paid to making the web browser more convenient.
