Sony taking PS4 owners on a Journey later this month

Indie studio Thatgamecompany’s pensive, emotional adventure game Journey will find a new home on the PlayStation 4 later this month, publisher Sony announced.

Journey is a freewheeling 3D platformer that puts players on a pilgrimage to a mysterious distant land. The trek spans massive deserts and ancient ruins, and the wordless quest features emotional high points throughout.

Journey is also known for its inventive approach to online co-op, pairing players up with anonymous companions who are exploring the same stretch of territory at the same time. Players only have limited methods of interacting with one another, and the emergent ways in which co-op partners join and leave the quest puts a unique, personal spin on each playthrough.

Sony notes that the PlayStation 4 version of Journey will be available as a free download for players who previously purchased the game’s 2012’s PlayStation 3 edition. Players are also invited to share their personal experiences with the game at journey.playstation.com, a site that collects user tweets and videos praising Journey‘s uniquely structured quest.

Journey broke established PlayStation Network sales records upon its launch in 2012, and was later featured in a retail Collector’s Edition alongside its fellow Thatgamecompany-developed PSN standouts. Its soundtrack was nominated in the 2013 Grammy Awards for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media. Journey is the third in a string of remastered PS4 ports from Thatgamecompany and designer Jenova Chen, following up on the 2013 launches of Flower and Flow for Sony’s newest console platform.

Journey will launch for the PlayStation 4 digitally via the PlayStation Network on July 21.

Sony San Diego Studios announced MLB The Show 23 today, and confirmed that it will launch across all major PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo systems on March 28.
No new platforms were added this year, so PC players aren't getting in on the fun. Still, this announcement makes it clear that MLB The Show is a multiplatform series across PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo platforms for the foreseeable future. Xbox's version of the trailer also confirms that MLB The Show 23 will be on Xbox Game Pass at launch, making this first-party Sony series a day-one Game Pass title three years in a row.
MLB The Show 23 - Cover Athlete Reveal
As is typically the case with sports games, MLB The Show 23's reveal was primarily focused on its cover athlete. We learned that Jazz Chisholm Jr., a second baseman for the Miami Marlins, will grace the cover of the game. Like last year, the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions of the game will cost $60, while players on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S without Xbox Game Pass will need to pay $70. So far, no new gameplay features have been teased, although a blog post confirms that cross-platform multiplayer, saves, and progression across all versions of the game will return this year.
So far, there's not a lot that actually seems new about MLB The Show 23, but this reveal concludes the genesis of a new era for the long-running baseball series. MLB The Show 23 will be released for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on March 28.

Sony’s Project Leonardo controller is only compatible with PS5

Sony's new adaptive controller, codenamed Project Leonardo, will only be compatible with PS5 when it launches. In a statement to Digital Trends, the company confirmed that the accessibility-focused tech won't work with PS4 or PC.

Project Leonardo was announced at Sony's CES 2023 showcase. The unique controller aims to let more players experience PlayStation games thanks to its highly customizable design and functionality. Digital Trends reached out to Sony following the presentation to ask if the controller would work with PS4. In its response, Sony confirms that it's built to work with PS5 exclusively.

Monster Hunter Rise won’t support cross-progression between PS4 and PS5

Monster Hunter Rise will not support cross-saves or cross-progression between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. This means that players who start their journeys on PlayStation 4 will have to start anew if they wish to play on PlayStation 5 later on.

Yesterday, Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Rise was coming to PlayStation and Xbox in January 2023. Microsoft stated that players can continue their progress between Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and the Xbox app on Windows PC.
