Visa pairs with Fandango for free summer movie deal

movie fridays on fandango free summer deal box office
With rising competition from streaming services like Netflix and Amazon, Red Box video machines, and a variety of other avenues, ticket vendors and theaters alike are doing everything they can to put butts in those red velvet seats.

That’s why Visa Signature is pairing with Fandango to offer “Movie Fridays on Fandango” a special summer deal that hopes to coax movie fans off their couches and in front of the silver screen.

Here’s the rundown: Use your Visa signature card to buy two or more movie tickets on a Friday, for a Friday movie on the above link, and get one free ticket from Visa and Fandango. The offer is valid through August 21, 2015 but is limited to one purchase per card every 30 days. You can check out the official terms here.

Whether it’s Marvel Studios’ Ant-man or Paramount Pictures’ Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, the summer is never short on blockbusters, and with movie ticket prices as high as they are, this deal is offering some pretty significant savings. It’s worth noting that you’ll have to pay Fandango’s surcharge for buying through the site, but you’ll still come out on top if you plan on heading back to theaters.

On the other hand, if the kiddies make Friday nights tough for you, there are several different deals available for families looking to bond in front of the big screen.

For instance, Regal theaters around the country are offering $1 tickets to second-run flicks such as Madagascar 3, Muppets Most Wanted, Annie, The Lego Movie, and Penguins of Madagascar among others. The nine-week “Regal Summer Movie Express” promotion started in June with showings taking place on weekdays at 10 a.m.

While watching at home is always more convenient, movie theaters have made major strides in visual and audio technology in recent years to make the experience more epic than ever. And let’s face it, your home theater just can’t compare to that massive screen. So get out to your local theater, and get a good deal while you’re at it.

For some reason, movies just feel different in the summer. Maybe it's because summer makes us ready for fun and adventure, or maybe it's because this is the season when Hollywood releases its biggest and best blockbusters of the year. Summer is also a great time for sci-fi movies too since many tend to be released as summertime blockbusters, creating an unexplainable connection between the genre and season.

2023 is an especially great year to stream some great sci-movie as well since we've had a surprising lack of sci-fi adventures this summer, aside from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and They Cloned Tyrone (which is more of a dark mystery than sci-fi anyways). Luckily, streamers like Max (formerly HBO Max) have a large library of fantastic new and classic sci-fi movies perfect for watching on a summer night. So grab some popcorn, turn on the surround sound, dim the lights (and maybe grab a friend or two), and check out these 5 epic sci-fi movies streaming on Max that are perfect for summer.
