Jon Stewart’s making his final week on The Daily Show count with guest appearances from three of his friends: Denis Leary, Louis C.K., and Amy Schumer. We’re sure that it will make for some memorable moments as the anchor steps down from his 16 year post on everyone’s favorite satirical news show.
“Remember, next week is our last week,” said Stewart on his show last night. “We’re going to have a ball, and I can’t wait to show my appreciation at all the support and enthusiasm you guys have given the show all these years.”
Schumer, a fellow Comedy Central mainstay who reportedly refused an offer to replace Stewart on the show, will guest on Monday. Leary and C.K., two of Stewart’s favorite guests, will appear on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
Stewart, who initially announced he was leaving the show in February, gave a “sneak preview” of his last night on the show in April. “I will be wearing a suit. I will more than likely be showered,” he joked. “I’m sorry, I’ll be wearing overalls and I won’t shower… I hope that you will join us for that program.”
Little is actually known about the final episode, which will air on Thursday evening on Comedy Central. We do know the final episode will be 50 minutes long, and Stephen Colbert — who will take over for David Letterman on CBS in September — is speculated to make an appearance. Comedy Central also has an all-day marathon of old Daily Show episodes planned on Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m.
After Stewart’s last show on Thursday, The Daily Show will resume on September 28 with new host Trevor Noah, who will have his work cut out for him, no doubt.
