Sext more, have a better sex life?

android cyber police ransomware news nearly a billion phones could be hackable with single text message
Communication is key in good relationships, so I suppose it makes some bit of sense that couples who sext together stay together. At least, that’s what science is now claiming. As per research presented over the weekend at the American Psychological Association convention in Toronto, sexting and better sex seem pretty closely correlated, as “those who sexted reported high levels of sexual and relationship satisfaction, especially among those who sexted with a committed partner.” Given the rising prevalence of the once taboo practice, this may become the new normal.

According to the survey, which included responses from 870 people between the ages of 18 and 82, a stunning 88 percent admitted to sending a sext at some point in their life. Seventy-four percent sexted a partner in a committed relationship, and 43 percent reported sexting during a casual relationship. Surprisingly, a much lower percentage — only 12 percent — said that they used sexting as a cheating mechanism.

According to Emily Stasko of Philadelphia’s Drexel University, “These findings show a robust relationship between and sexual and .” And despite the stigma that has historically been associated with these racy text messages, experts insist that they do have a place in the modern-day relationship. After all, Stasko noted, “… if sexting were only dangerous, it wouldn’t be as popular.”

Thanks in part to this latest study, researchers now say that sexting carries  “potential positive effects of open sexual communication with a partner.” As a result, it now seems possible that with a little more research to justify the practice, sexting may be used to increase intimacy or address communication problems.

Of course, this isn’t to say that sexting is all great all the time. As relationship expert Siggy Flicker told Today, “If you’re in a relationship and you’re saying, ‘I cant wait to get home to you and have sex’ — it’s fine. When you’re not in a relationship its extremely inappropriate.” Similarly, if an individual is suddenly on the receiving end of unwanted advances, things can also get extremely uncomfortable extremely quickly. So what’s the best way to deal? Says Flicker, “Say ‘Hi, although this could be fun, this is not what I’m about. But I wish you health and happiness in your life.'”

Motorola’s new Moto G Power (2022) keeps long battery life, adds better camera
Image of a picture being taken with a Moto G Power.

The Moto G Power (2022) is officially the newest part of Motorola's Moto G family, and the successor to the Moto G Power (2021) that we reviewed early this year. As our review of the earlier model noted, all the key selling points are here, like the long-lasting three-day battery life, huge display, and sturdy design. But on top of that, Motorola also appears to have addressed our complaints about the weak camera performance and mediocre panel, by significantly beefing up both, though it still hasn't brought 5G to the device likely to keep it under $200.

To start with, the new G Power features a 6.5-inch 1600 x 720 IPS display with a 90Hz refresh rate, meaning everything will be smoother than last year's 60Hz panel. It's still not really a bump up from 720p -- 1080p would have been nice given the big screen, but it'll still feel a lot better to use. In terms of weight and dimensions, it's about the same size and tips the scale at about 203 grams. The design is fairly sturdy and is IP52 water-repellent, however, it is not technically waterproof, so don't fully immerse it.

Perseverance confirms Jezero Crater was once a lake, could have supported life
Caption: Images from the Perseverance rover confirm that Jezero crater is an ancient Martian lake, researchers say. This Mastcam-Z enhanced color photo mosaic shows a butte near Jezero crater informally dubbed Kodiak by the rover team.

Mars today is a dry, inhospitable desert. But billions of years ago, it could have looked a lot like Earth, with liquid water flowing over its surface. Now, new analysis of data from the Perseverance rover confirms that the Jezero Crater, where the rover is currently exploring, was once a large lake and was even subject to flash floods. The presence of water supports the possibility that life could once have blossomed on Mars.

The analysis is based on images of the rocks on the western side of the Jezero Crater, which appears to be a river delta. Here, layers of sediment have been laid down in a fan shape which looks a lot like river deltas on Earth where a river flows into a lake. An international team of researchers found that the sedimentary layers confirm the presence of an ancient lake that was calm throughout its early life but later flooded dramatically.

This new Windows 10 feature promises better battery life and less fan noise

Microsoft is working on a new feature that can help tune the performance of your PC's processor for both better battery life and reduced fan noise. Known as EcoQoS, it's now in beta testing with Windows Insiders and promises to make Windows 10 a lot more efficient.

According to Raymond Li, program manager for Windows Fundamentals, this new EcoQoS feature is about better energy consumption and reduced power and thermal throttling. It's all accomplished with what's known as a new "quality of service level" inside Windows 10, which works better with certain background processes that do not have a significant performance or latency requirement.
