Here’s an early peek at the first few minutes of Fear the Walking Dead

The First 3 Minutes of the Series Premiere: Fear the Walking Dead
The premiere of The Walking Dead spinoff series Fear the Walking Dead is just a few days away now, and AMC is driving up the hype for the much-anticipated zombie drama with a new clip featuring the first three minutes of the debut episode.

The clip features Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince actor Frank Dillane waking up in an abandoned church and making a gruesome discovery as he wanders through the building. The clip is likely a precursor to the scene featured in the June teaser for Fear the Walking Dead titled “Nick’s Escape,” which features Dillane fleeing the church and running at top speed away from an unseen threat.

Already confirmed for a second season, Fear the Walking Dead is described as a “companion series” to AMC’s wildly popular zombie series The Walking Dead. The spinoff based is on the West Coast, far from the events of the original, and begins at an earlier point in the timeline of the series’ shared universe. While there’s been no official word on whether the two series will ever converge, Fear the Walking Dead is expected to offer some insight about the origins of the zombie virus as the outbreak begins to ravage the country.

Fear the Walking Dead follows high school guidance counselor Madison Clark (played by Sons of Anarchy actress Kim Dickens) and English teacher Travis Manawa (Gang Related actor Cliff Curtis) as they attempt to survive during the onset of the zombie epidemic. Alycia Debnam Carey (Into the Storm), Elizabeth Rodriguez (Orange is the New Black), and Mercedes Mason (Quarantine 2: Terminal) also play featured roles in the series.

The series premieres Sunday, August 23, at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC with a 90-minute debut episode.

Never has a show jumped a proverbial shark only to land ever so steadily and tread water for a few seasons, then rise above once again like The Walking Dead. If you're one of the viewers who stuck with the show through its lowest points, you will have reaped the benefits of the big pay-off that came after the post-apocalyptic series hit its stride once again.

The Walking Dead's earliest seasons drew viewers into emotional, heart-wrenching scenes, shocking them with copious amounts of action and gore, and built characters who fans became deeply invested in as the story arcs developed. Following some questionable middle seasons, the show returned to its initial appeal thanks to reinvigorated elements that made it fresh and exciting once again.

Unfortunately, the Commonwealth has a darker side that gets explored in the trailer. The Commonwealth provides a good life for anyone in a position of power. But anyone who causes too many waves will be cast out.
