And the most popular iPhone 6S model in preorders is …

iPhone 6S
Did you get your iPhone 6S preorder processed in time? It looks like the larger model in the newest color is making all the early running. AppleInsider reports that demand for the rose gold-colored iPhone 6S Plus is the most noticeable among those who’ve put an order in so far, based on an Apple news blog tracking the shipping times in various parts of the world.

Delivery times for all iPhone 6S Plus models in most corners of the globe have slipped to three to four weeks — either a sign of limited supply, overwhelming demand or both — but for the most part the iPhone 6S in all colors is still showing the original shipping date of Sept. 25. In Hong Kong the new iPhones have completely sold out — you can’t buy or reserve them in that country for now.

It’s perhaps not surprising that Apple customers would scramble to get their hands on this year’s freshest color, and the trend for bigger phones and larger screen sizes has been growing in recent years. Overall, the Apple supply chain hasn’t coped too badly with the rush of initial orders, though as there are no major changes to the design or function of the phone it’s reasonable to assume that demand will be less than it was last year.

The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are currently available to order in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the U.K. and the United States, with more countries to be added to the list in the future.

This year’s models bring with them improved internals, an upgraded camera, a pressure-sensitive 3D Touch display and a new Live Photos feature that turns images into short video clips. For more on the phones, check out our hands-on impressions of the new handsets.

It’s peak summer season, but that also means we’re getting closer to Apple’s fall event in September. This is typically when we expect the next generation of iPhones and Apple Watches.

This year, we’re expecting the iPhone 15 lineup, which should include the standard iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. On top of that, it’s safe to say that we should also see the Apple Watch Series 9, but whether we’re getting a second-generation Apple Watch Ultra is still up in the air. And new AirPods? Who knows! Regardless, it will be exciting and jam-packed with a ton of new products.
