Every few years or so, Porsche gathers as many new and old race cars as it can in one place for its Rennsport Reunion. The fifth iteration of this motorsports bash took place recently at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. It’s the kind of thing that leaves one wanting a souvenir to remember it by like, say, a special-edition 911.
The Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Rennsport Reunion Edition, however, is no cheap postcard. Reserved exclusively for North America and limited to just 25 units, it’s probably about as rare as some of the race cars that inspired it.
Built by the Porsche Exclusive division, which handles customization work, the Rennsport Reunion Edition is based on the 911 Carrera GTS. That means it packs a 3.8-liter flat-six with 430 horsepower and 324 pound-feet of torque, and some additional performance upgrades like lower suspension, sport exhaust, and the Sport Chrono package.
While the standard Carrera GTS is available with both seven-speed dual-clutch PDK and manual transmissions, the Rennsport Reunion Edition is offered only with the manual. That allows it to do 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, and reach a top speed of 190 mph.
Features unique to the Rennsport Reunion Edition are mostly cosmetic, such as the graphics on the hood, sides, and decklid, and the “Fashion Grey” paint. Those elements are matched by retro-looking 20-inch “Sport Classic” wheels and other exterior bits finished in high-gloss black.
The interior features carbon-fiber dashboard trim and the same upgrades that come with the standard Carrera GTS, including a special steering wheel, interior trim, and floor mats. The GTS logo is also stitched onto the headrests in “Carmine Red,” and the seatbelts and tachometer face are done up in the same color. Buyers also get a key fob painted the same Fashion Grey color as the car, in a Carmine Red pouch.
Besides the model-specific trim, the Rennsport Reunion Edition is also fairly well equipped, boasting 18-way power front seats, a Bose audio system, and rear park assist. Then again, you’d expect that (and probably more) for the car’s starting price of $149,330 (including destination).
