If the war between Pillowtown and Blanketsburg taught us anything, it’s that forts are serious business. Erecting them is a painstaking process that involves planning, designing, and gathering every piece of bedding not tucked under a mattress. Because of the work required to put them up (not to mention clean them up), forts weren’t a project to be undertaken on your average school night.
But Fortsy thinks kids should be able to just put up a tent any old day of the week. It’s created a Kickstarter for forts that are easy enough for a 5-year-old to assemble in just a few minutes.
The Fortsy is made of two parts: a 5-by-5-by-3-foot base with a mesh window, three doors, and a zippered top; and 5-by-3-by-3-foot tunnel, with two doors, two mesh windows, and a zippered top and bottom. They can fit together in a variety of ways, with the second piece acting as a tower or tunnel. The kit comes with a hand pump, and it takes under a minute to inflate each structure.
The inflatable part of the Fortsy is made of VOC-free plastic polymer, and it comes with a washable nylon cover. Right now, the covers come in two designs, royal castle and pretty playhouse. If the campaign meets its stretch goals, options for a jungle tree fort, moon base, and magic cottage will be added.
There are still some early-bird options available, so $65 gets you either a base or tower. If you want both, you’ll have to bump your pledge up to $150. If you’re thinking it will make the perfect Christmas gift for your niece or nephew, don’t worry. If the campaign reaches its $50,000 goal, the Fortsy team will start shipping them out in December of this year. Have fun storming the castle!
