Instagram unveils multi-account access for Android beta users

Instagram is taking a page from Twitter’s book by allowing its app users to stay logged in to multiple accounts at the same time. The feature is rolling out to Android users who are part of Instagram’s Play Store beta testing program.

The multi-account access was noticed on version 7.12.0 of the Instagram beta app, according to Android Police and Twitter user @fro_rogue. Users who have the beta app can dive into the bottom of the settings menu and tap on “Add Account” to log in to another account or create a new Instagram handle.

After a user is logged into multiple accounts, they can toggle between them by tapping their username from their profile page. A drop-down menu will display the added accounts and an option to add another account. Users can head back to the settings menu to log out of individual accounts or all added accounts at once.

The multi-account feature appears to be rolling out to beta users in phases, according to Android Police. Some users report having the feature then losing it.

The promises of Android 13 are enough to get any Android user excited, but Oppo smartphone owners won't have to wait to see what the next major update to the operating system has in store. Specifically, the Find N was highlighted during the presentation and now owners will be able to see what the big deal is for themselves.

The first public beta build of Android 13 has been released and it is now ready to install as an over-the-air update for folks who aren’t afraid of a few broken features and bugs. Google says the first beta build is only compatible with the Pixel 4 and other Pixel models launched after it, which includes flagships as well as the affordable "A" models.

The first public beta of Android 13 arrives with one user-facing and a couple of developer-centric updates. The only new feature users should care about is a more granular permission system for apps. An app will no longer ask for blanket permission to access the locally stored files. Instead, it will only get access to files that are relevant to its functionality.
