Entitled Christmas at Nana’s, the bit features Amy Poehler and Kyle Mooney as whiny pre-teen siblings ruining Christmas with an immature spat and Kate McKinnon as their disappointed mother. Anyone who has ever had a silly fight with a sibling (i.e. — anyone with siblings) can relate to the sketch, as Mooney and Poehler trade absurd barbs, muttering them under their breath so that their words are barely audible. Here’s one of the funnier exchanges:
KM: “Stop looking at me!”
AP: “I’m not looking at you, geek of the week.”
KM: “I’m not the geek of the week, that’s not even a thing.”
Eventually, the two make up and share an awkward hug, but shortly thereafter, McKinnon returns to deliver some bad news about Nana. We won’t spoil the surprise for you, but suffice it to say there’s a bit of an unexpected twist at around the 2:55 mark. Oh well, at least she made it to 109 … Let’s open presents!!!
We’re guessing the sketch was cut in favor of bits that featured both Fey and Poehler, but for those that want to take a trip back in time, the entire skit is embedded above.
Last week’s episode was the final show of 2015, but the show is set to return from its Holiday hiatus on January 16, 2016, when Adam Driver (AKA Kylo Ren) guest-hosts the festivities.
