Here’s the first footage from the Wonder Woman movie

Wonder Woman (2017) Exclusive First look [HD] by The CW
The new (and amazing) trailer for Suicide Squad wasn’t the only high-profile movie preview that occurred during this week’s DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League special on The CW, as the first footage from the upcoming Wonder Woman movie also debuted during the televised Warner Bros. Pictures presentation.

The brief set of clips from Wonder Woman offered fans their first good look at star Gal Gadot in action as the iconic Amazon warrior who becomes one of Earth’s greatest heroes.

The Wonder Woman footage was introduced by DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and filmmaker (and well-known comics fan) Kevin Smith, who indicated that the film will establish the heroine’s origin story in DC Comics’ burgeoning cinematic universe. Gadot will make her debut as Wonder Woman in this year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ahead of the solo movie, which premieres in 2017.

From the looks of the preview footage, Wonder Woman appears to be a period piece of sorts, set well before the events of Dawn of Justice.

The Wonder Woman preview also provided one of the first good looks at Star Trek franchise actor Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, the man whose encounter with the isolated world of the Amazons prompts Wonder Woman’s adventure in the outside world.

Along with Gadot and Pine, Wonder Woman stars Robin Wright (House of Cards), Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), David Thewlis (The Theory of Everything), Ewen Bremner (Exodus: Gods and Kings), Saïd Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In), Connie Nielsen (Gladiator), and Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead). The film is directed by Monster filmmaker Patty Jenkins from a script penned by Pan screenwriter Jason Fuchs.

Wonder Woman is scheduled to arrive in theaters June 23, 2017.

The best superhero deaths in movies, ranked
Robert Downey Jr. In Avengers: Endgame.

One of the most common features in superhero movies is someone close to the protagonist getting killed off. Gwen Stacy's brutal death in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Jonathan Kent getting killed by a tornado in Man of Steel are just two such tragedies that come to mind.

Although rare, there are times when the heroes themselves get the ax. Many movies have shown superheroes die in ways both noble and tragic, from self-sacrifice to a brutal battle with the film's villain. The demises on this list prove that being a crime-fighter isn't all fun and games, so be prepared to cry all over again with the best superhero deaths in movies.
