Revealed in what was allegedly a leaked brochure, the F-Type SVR will make its official debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show in March. Jaguar is holding off on technical details for now, but it did confirm the SVR’s previously-reported 200 mph top speed. And what else do you need to know, really?
That insane velocity will reportedly be achieved using a tuned version of the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 in the current F-Type R. But instead of the R’s 550 horsepower, the SVR will get 575. Upgrades to the suspension and brakes that will help drivers properly harness that power are reportedly on the menu as well.
Jaguar also confirmed that the SVR will be offered as both a coupe and a convertible. To match the extra aggression under the hood, the SVR gets more intense bodywork, including a reworked front fascia with gaping air intakes. A front splitter and a large, adjustable rear spoiler should provide some useful downforce as well.
The F-Type SVR is a product of Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) skunkworks. In the short time that it’s been in operation, SVO has churned out some impressive creations, including the F-Type-based Project 7 and the Range Rover Sport SVR hot rod SUV. Both have something of a niche appeal, though. The F-Type SVR will probably raise the profile of SVO significantly.
While the car itself won’t debut until March, we won’t have to wait quite as long for the juicy details. Jaguar says it will reveal technical information on February 17. It’s still unclear when the SVR will go on sale, but it is possible the car may arrive in showrooms before the end of the year. Until then, stay tuned for more updates.
