As with other prepaid carriers, the main strength of Krew’s family plan is its cost. Whereas main carriers will make you pay around $100 for the benefit of having multiple lines, Krew’s family plan includes three lines for $40 per month. Even then, as part of an introductory special, you’ll only pay $20 per month for the first two months.
As for what the plan looks like, here’s the breakdown: one line serves as the “parent” line, while the other two lines serve as the “kid” lines. The parent line includes unlimited voice minutes and text messages, as well as 2GB of 4G LTE data. You won’t get overcharged if you pass that 2GB threshold — you’ll simply get sent down to unlimited 2G data, a common practice among carriers nowadays. The parent line also comes with parental control features, which allow parents to shut down the kid lines and set limits on how much time kids can use their phones.
As for the kid lines, they include everything the parent line has, except for any cellular data. Whether that tidbit is a deal breaker for your family will likely depend on how old your kids are, since kids on the younger side will likely not even need cellular data.
There are a few things to keep in mind, the first being that Krew seems to use either T-Mobile’s or AT&T’s network, though the band 12 support implies the former. In addition, Krew doesn’t sell any phones, which means you’ll need to bring your own devices in order to use its family plan. Finally, because the kid lines don’t feature cellular data, parents won’t be able to use apps that allow them to know where their kids are.
