The final Daredevil: Season 2 trailer hints at something evil under Hell’s Kitchen

Only three days remain until Marvel’s Daredevil returns for a second season, and Netflix has released a new trailer teasing what’s to come for blind attorney Matt Murdock and his costumed alter ego in the next arc of the critically acclaimed series.

Along with quite a bit of fresh footage featuring newcomers Jon Bernthal as The Punisher and Elodie Yung as Elektra, the trailer also offers some cryptic hints about a new threat looming in the darkness beneath Manhattan. It seems that Bernthal’s gun-toting vigilante and Yung’s assassin aren’t the only dangerous elements Daredevil will have to contend with in the upcoming season.

The second season of Daredevil brings back Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, along with Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Scott Glenn as Stick, and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple. Glenn in particular seems to play a key role in the next season after playing just a brief — but intriguing — supporting role in the first story arc of the show.

The new preview also hints at something well beyond the usual street-level criminals endangering Daredevil’s city, and seems to offer some support to fan theories that the show could be building toward a threat from the occult side of Marvel’s cinematic universe.

The official synopsis for the second season of the Daredevil reads as follows:

“Just when Matt thinks he is bringing order back to the city, new forces are rising in Hell’s Kitchen. Now the Man Without Fear must take on a new adversary in Frank Castle and face an old flame — Elektra Natchios.

Bigger problems emerge when Frank Castle, a man looking for vengeance, is reborn as The Punisher, a man who takes justice into his own hands in Matt’s neighborhood. Meanwhile, Matt must balance his duty to his community as a lawyer and his dangerous life as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, facing a life-altering choice that forces him to truly understand what it means to be a hero.”

All 13 episodes of the new season of Daredevil are scheduled to premiere March 18 on Netflix.

Gus starts a hybrid revolution in Sweet Tooth season 2 trailer
Christian Convery in Sweet Tooth.

Any similarities between Netflix's Sweet Tooth and HBO's The Last of Us may be unintentional, but they are hard to deny in the latest trailer for the upcoming second season of the former. In The Last of Us, the cure to a plague that devastated humanity was in the body of a young girl named Ellie, and Sweet Tooth season 2 is also running with the idea that the human/animal hybrids can also heal the world -- but only if they are sacrificed in the process. While Ellie never got to make her choice, Sweet Tooth's Gus (Christian Convery) has made his decision to stand up to his captors. And if he isn't careful, it could be the Last of Gus!
