Marketing materials have unveiled the next Destiny expansion a little ahead of schedule. The content drop will apparently be titled Rise of Iron, and looks set to be showcased by Bungie at E3 next month.

The news broke on Reddit late last night, as a photograph of a seemingly legitimate poster was published to the Destiny subreddit. Sources familiar with the studio’s plans for the franchise have since confirmed that the leaked materials are real, according to a report from Kotaku.

The title Rise of Iron will immediately call to mind the Iron Banner multiplayer event for anyone that’s spent some time with Destiny. This contest is overseen by Lord Saladin, who looks to be the character depicted on the leaked poster.

In Destiny lore, Lord Saladin is one of the Iron Lords, a group of legendary warriors who were responsible for defending The City long before the events depicted in the game unfold. Most of their number were thought to be dead, so it remains to be seen how they’ll play into the plot of Rise of Iron.

The expansion is expected to contain the Raid that was delayed from the spring update. This content has been in the works for some time, as it’s based on a mission that was intended to ship with 2015’s House of Wolves expansion.

Destiny players have been hungry for new content for quite some time now, so this confirmation that a new expansion is indeed on its way will be warmly received. It will certainly be more difficult to tempt players back now that The Division offers a similarly loot-centric take on the always-online shooter.

Rise of Iron is expected to launch this fall, but we’ll likely have to wait until E3 for confirmation on that release window.

I rescued Destiny 2 ‘new lights’ from a game-ruining fate
A squad of guardians pose as they wait to load.

Destiny 2 introduced a new activity in December called Dares of Eternity as a part of the Bungie 30th Anniversary pack. In it, a team of six Guardians faces off against enemies and obstacles in an activity that humorously models its presentation on that of classic game shows like The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. It’s as ridiculous as it sounds, and is meant as a comical, lighthearted bit of adventuring with some quality loot at the end.

The problem with Dares of Eternity is that it automatically launches the first time you boot Destiny 2 during this 30th Anniversary event. That’s all well and good for experienced players who are decked out with the latest high-level equipment. But new players, or players returning from long breaks, are at a severe disadvantage in terms of leveling relative to the enemies, and are effectively stuck in an unending loop of getting their space-butts handed to them.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE’s freshly leaked posters show nothing new
Early renders of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE in multiple color options

The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE saga has been an unpredictable roller coaster ride so far, with a lot of confusion over its ultimate fate. While some reports said Samsung has canceled the S21 FE, recent developments seem to suggest the contrary. Earlier this week, the phone made an appearance on benchmarking platform Geekbench, toting Samsung’s Exynos 2100 processor. And earlier today, folks over at CoinBRS released a bunch of images that appear to be very authentic-looking promotional materials for the Galaxy S21 FE.

These promotional materials include images of the phone in four color variants, but do not reveal any hardware specifications. One of the images in the posters, however, caught our attention (see below). The poster shows the Galaxy S21 FE placed alongside the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 and the Galaxy Watch 4.  What makes this image noteworthy is that both the wearable devices alongside the phone are already on sale and were announced on August 11, 2021, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3.
