If you’re a Nexus handset owner who’s thinking about dropping $35 on one of Google’s recently launched Live Cases, then you may as well try winning one first.
The Mountain View company has just launched a contest offering 10 winners the chance to create their own Live Case for the princely sum of nothing. Yes, 10 does seem a little stingy for a company with cash coming out of its ears, but hey, it’s better than nothing.
To have a chance of bagging one of the cases all you need to do is sign up as a Local Guide and knock out a review for Google Maps about a place you’ve visited anywhere in the world. You need to be 18 or over to enter, and based in the U.S.
Google is after “high quality” reviews that offer your own personal view on what makes you chosen place special, and is encouraging “informative and insightful” content.
“Try to be as accurate as possible, and include both the positive and negative aspects of your visit,” it says in its tips for writing the kind of reviews that’ll give you a chance of walking away with a free case.
Additional advice includes being respectful, suggesting you try to be constructive in your post, even if you’re frustrated with the place you’re reviewing. And finally: “Use good grammar, check your spelling, and avoid profanity. Choose the right length – a paragraph is great. Be creative and have fun!”
The contest kicks off on June 6 and runs through June 30, with the 10 lucky winners announced on July 8.
Not heard of the Nexus Live Case? It’s a new service that lets owners of 5X, 6, and 6P phones design a case exactly how they want it. Choose a favorite photo or special place on Google Maps, jazz it up with one of the provided filters, and you’re good to go. Besides the case, you also get a live wallpaper that brings your design to life on your phone’s home screen.
