Netflix certainly isn’t showing any signs of letting up in its efforts to bolster its already impressive lineup of original programming. The latest acquisition by the streaming video service adds to the ranks of its comedy offerings with a feature directed by and starring Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Goldbergs actor Jeff Garlin.
Titled Handsome, the film is described as a mystery with comedy elements, and will be the third feature directed by Garlin, who also directed one episode of the Emmy-nominated Curb Your Enthusiasm.
According to Deadline, Handsome will follow a Los Angeles homicide detective named Gene Handsome (Garlin) whose knack for solving crimes is only matched by his inability to figure out what’s wrong with his own life.
Along with Garlin in the director’s chair and lead role, the film also stars The Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco, as well as Christine Woods (Hello Ladies), Natasha Lyonne (Orange is the New Black), Amy Sedaris (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Steven Weber (iZombie), Eddie Peppitone (Love), and Leah Remini (King of Queens).
The script for the film was penned by Garlin and Laggies writer Andrea Seigel, and is produced by Garlin, Seigel, David Miner (Master of None), and Vern Davidson (The Goldbergs).
There’s no word on when Handsome will premiere on Netflix.
