A 13-second quarter-mile mom-mobile? Hennessey turns GMC’s Yukon Denali into a tire smoker

Tuning houses are fun to check in on, particularly in the case of Texas-Based Hennessey Performance Engineering, who’ve been particularly successful cramming ludicrous amounts of horsepower into a multitude of cars that weren’t exactly lacking in the engine department to begin with. Its most successful project to date is the Hennessy Venom GT, a modified Lotus Exige that’s currently a contender for fastest production car ever.

While that’s nice to have for weekend speed runs (if you happen to have a space shuttle runway handy), for those looking to add a shot of Hennessey to your every day life, these guys have you covered.

The video above shows how Hennessey even gets SUVs in on the action with the HPE650 Supercharged Upgrade package for the 2015 Yukon Denali, a full-sized utility vehicle that already has a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 to haul around all 5,800 pounds of truck along. The upgrade, which includes a 2.9-liter supercharger system, ups that power to 665 hp and 658 pound-feet of torque.

What all that translates to is a Yukon Denali with a 0-to-60 time of 4.5 seconds. To put that in perspective, that’s as fast off the line as a 2014 Ford Mustang GT. The video shows the upgraded GMC in action, warranting an understated “wow” to be muttered by the test driver as he launches a three-ton brick house down a test track and completes a quarter-mile run of 13.1 seconds.

You can inquire how much the HPE650 upgrade pack will cost to ramp up the crazy in your own Yukon or Escalade on the Hennessey website to see how you can be the fastest Uber driver in your neighborhood.
