Low-resolution pictures seemingly taken during a product presentation have given us the best look yet at the 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe. Designed to take on the BMW M4, the next C63 Coupe will make its public debut in less than a month at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Published by website Zero2Turbo, the leaked images show that the 2017 C63 stands out from the recently-introduced 2017 C-Class Coupe thanks to a sportier-looking front end characterized by model-specific bumper with bigger air dams, a twin-slat grille and a power dome hood. The fenders gain “V8 Biturbo” emblems, and the rear end is fitted with a discreet trunk-mounted spoiler, quad exhaust pipes as well as an air diffuser built into the bumper.
Technical specifications haven’t been leaked, but the C63 Coupe is expected to be all but identical to its four-door counterpart. That means base models will launch with a twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter V8 engine tuned to deliver 469 horsepower between 5,500 and 6,250 rpm and 479 foot-pounds of torque from 1,750 to 4,500 rpm.
Mercedes-AMG will also offer a more extreme S-badged version of the C63 equipped with an evolution of the twin-turbocharged eight-cylinder that will make 503 horsepower and 516 foot-pounds of torque. Power will be sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission regardless of which engine is chosen.
Both versions of the C63 Coupe will pack an adjustable sport-tuned suspension and upgraded brakes on all four corners. The C63 will ship with a mechanical limited-slip differential, while the S model will up the ante with a more advanced electronic unit.
