The 2020 Honda Civic sedan and coupe arrive tomorrow starting at $20,680

Following the launch of the 2020 Civic hatchback and Si performance models, the 2020 Honda Civic coupe and sedan are about to hit dealerships. Both compact car body styles received significant updates for the 2019 model year, so changes for 2020 are fairly limited.

The base engine remains a 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT) or six-speed manual. Civic EX, EX-L, and Touring models get a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which makes 174 hp with either transmission. Torque is pegged at 167 lb-ft with the manual, and 162 lb-ft with the CVT. The Civic Si performance versions of the coupe and sedan use the same turbocharged engine, but tuned to produce 205 hp and 192 lb-ft. Honda also offers a Sport model with upgraded suspension and all-season performance tires from the Civic Si, mounted on 18-inch wheels.

Sport and higher trim levels get Honda’s Display Audio system, with a 7.0-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility. We recently tested this system on a 2019 Civic sedan, and were impressed with its usability. Sport models also get aluminum pedals and seats covered in a combination of synthetic leather and cloth. Full-leather seats are standard on EX-L (sedan only) and Touring trim levels.

Like other current Honda models, the Civic gets an impressive array of standard safety tech. Autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, road departure mitigation, and lane departure warning are standard under the Honda Sensing banner. Automatic high beams and Honda’s LaneWatch sideview camera are available as optional extras. Honda is expected to discontinue LaneWatch, which uses a camera mounted on the passenger’s side mirror to increase visibility, in the near future in favor of cheaper blind spot monitoring.

Pricing starts at $19,750, but a mandatory $930 destination charge bumps that over the $20,000 mark to $20,680. That’s an increase of $335 over the 2019 model year. Pricing climbs to $28,530 for a sedan in the range-topping Touring trim level. If you’re looking for greater cargo capacity, the 2020 Honda Civic hatchback is already on sale with a base price of $22,580 (including destination), and equipment that more or less mirrors the coupe and sedan.
