Jaguar’s stunning F-TYPE is many things: A coupe, a roadster, a sexy cruiser, and a raucous plaything. What it isn’t, however, is a race car. We’re sadly not announcing a return of Jaguar to the world of motorsport, but, with a help of a little rendering, we can at least imagine the possibilities.
Automotive photographer James Gibson took the time to flesh out just what that would look like, rendering a version of the Jaguar F-TYPE in the style of a GT3 racer. His interpretation of the road car strips out all the luxuries and adds a pure race car interior, including roll cage. The bodykit looks wider, with huge intakes in the front and a slew of aero elements to hold the Jag to the road. A “Jaguar” emblazoned rear wing rounds out the imagined package.
In its mightiest form, the F-TYPE is packed with a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that pushes out 550 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque. That’s plenty of grunt to play with current GT3-classed cars.

As fun as it is to pretend, Jaguar doesn’t seem to have any race ambitions at the moment, but a hardcore F-TYPE isn’t a pure exercise in fantasy. We only need to look at the recently passed Geneva auto show to see that luxury sports car makers are keen to do cranked-up track-only versions of their vehicles, and who’s to say Jaguar won’t get the same itch? Here’s hoping they get it soon.
